Volvo Car Thailand Continues Focus on Electrification with Record-High Sales in its Fully Electric Lineup

Volvo Car Thailand has announced its fourth consecutive year of growth, with fully electric model sales accounting for a record 80% of total sales in 2024, representing a 24% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

The company also emphasized its strategy to drive sustainable growth beyond 2025, which includes expanding its product portfolio of fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, enhancing customer satisfaction through an extensive sales and service network, and creating value for Volvo car owners with new initiatives aimed at reducing the total cost of ownership.

In 2024, Volvo Car Thailand achieved its highest-ever share of electrified vehicle sales since the launch of its first fully electric model in 2022. This growth was primarily driven by strong demand for the Volvo EX30, which contributed 40% of electric vehicle sales, followed by the EC40 and EX40, each accounting for 20% of the total sales. Additionally, sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles made up 20% of total sales, with the XC60 and XC90 continuing to attract significant customer interest.

The pre-owned segment also experienced growth, with Volvo Selekt Approved Used Cars sales increasing by 9% compared to the same period in 2023.

Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Car Thailand and Malaysia commented, “We are extremely proud of our achievements over the past year. Despite numerous challenges, Volvo Car Thailand has continued to make significant progress, as reflected in our results and enhancement of our versatile portfolio.

While the industry will face ongoing pressures in 2025, we remain committed to taking decisive actions that will not only create value for our customers but also drive sustainable growth for our business, with an expected growth rate of 5% in 2025. We are confident that our balanced and diversified portfolio of fully electric and plug-in hybrid models will continue to appeal to consumers. With our premium brand positioning, we are well-equipped to navigate the challenges posed by heightened competition and a weakening market.”

Looking Ahead to 2025

Volvo Car Thailand is set for another significant year in 2025 as it continues to enhance its product portfolio and accelerate its transformation toward an all-electric future.

In the first quarter of 2025, the company is expected to begin deliveries of its EX90 flagship SUV. The EX90 represents a major technological leap with the introduction of Volvo Car’s next-generation fully electric platform. As one of the first vehicles equipped with core computing technology, the software-defined EX90 marks a paradigm shift for Volvo, bringing together next-generation safety, connectivity, data, and software in one product.

Additionally, the company plans to launch new electric models, as well as refresh its plug-in hybrid offering – vital steps toward full electrification.

To further enhance the customer experience, Volvo Car Thailand plans to expand its dealership network and Volvo Certified Damage Repair Centre (VCDR). The company will also increase the reach of its Volvo Mobile Service, which has received positive feedback from customers since its launch last year. This service offers convenience and peace of mind by providing car service by certified service technicians at customers’ preferred locations.
Recognizing the importance of market conditions and cost efficiency, Volvo Car Thailand will introduce a new battery repair and recycling solution center in Thailand, alongside the Volvo SMART Repair Service, which offers fast and cost-effective repairs for small to medium bodywork damage using modern techniques. These initiatives are aligned with Volvo’s commitment to delivering greater value and reducing the total cost of ownership for its customers.
