Mercedes-AMG has introduced the GT S Roadster, a performance-focused variant that slots between the basic GT Roadster and the flagship GT C.
The GT S’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 has been tuned to deliver 515 horsepower at 494 pound-feet of torque, bridging the gap between the 469-horsepower base model and 550-pony GT C.
Drivers can expect to launch from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and eventually top out at 192 mph.
The GT S borrows the GT C’s adaptive damping system, electronically controlled limited-slip differential, composite brakes and performance exhaust system, but lacks the flagship’s rear-axle steering and 12-inch-wide rear wheels.
US buyers will be able to buy the GT S Roadster by late 2018. Pricing and additional details will be announced closer to launch.
