Glickenhaus SCG 004S supercar will utilize Nissan GT-R engine

The motor will be tuned to 690 horsepower.

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus’s latest supercar will utilize propulsion from a Nissan GT-R engine.

The upcoming SCG 004S was originally announced with a 650-horsepower twin-turbo V8, but founder James Glickenhaus confirmed the new powerplant choice to the UK’s Autocar, explaining that the GT-R engine was “practically bulletproof.”

Not only that, but SCG has plans to tune the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 to 690 horsepower. In its highest tune offered by Nissan in the GT-R NISMO the output is 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque.

The 690-horse output is just at the entry grade. Higher trim levels will see even more power, but that figure has yet to be disclosed. The engine will be mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a paddle shift automatic, presumably some kind of direct-shift gearbox. Weight is expected to be just 2,600 pounds. As Autocar points out, that’s a significantly better power-to-weight ratio than even a McLaren 720S.

SCG plans to build 250 004S models per year starting in 2020. The initial batch of 25 Founders Edition models have already been sold out.
