The last examples of the Dodge Viper and Challenger SRT Demon are officially off the market. The duo sold for a cool $1 million over the weekend at the Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction in Connecticut.
After the last Demon rolled off the assembly line in May, Dodge announced it would be holding back the final unit of the ultimate muscle car for a charity auction. Dodge paired the last Demon with the last Viper ever built, resulting in a $1 million windfall for the United Way.
“We know the power of the Dodge Viper and Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to put a smile on people’s faces; we’re smiling today because we know the power of this donation to the United Way,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands, Dodge//SRT, Chrysler and FIAT – FCA North America. “These particular vehicles mark the end of their eras as the last vehicles of their kind to be built; it’s rare to have just one such vehicle cross the auction block, much less a pair at the same time.”
Both vehicles were painted in the same Viper Red exterior color. In addition to the vehicles themselves, the lucky winner also received authentication kits for each vehicle containing custom build sheets, authenticity letters, certification cards, iPads with videos and photos, and other custom branded items.
The Dodge Viper and Challenger Demon are now officially out of production, but there could be replacements in the works. We’ve already heard rumors of a Viper revival and we wouldn’t put it past Dodge to create and even wilder muscle car to keep pace with future version of the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro.
