With models such as the DEEPAL S07, DEEPAL L07, DEEPAL S07 L, DEEPAL L07 S and LUMIN DC, this development marks a significant step in sustainable electric vehicle innovation and cutting-edge technology. The company also plans to launch new brand and new model, AVATR and DEEPAL E07, within this year. “Mr. Shen Xinghua” expressed deep gratitude to the partners who have cooperated and supported, which is crucial in achieving significant goals and establishing a strong foundation for CHANGAN’s future.

Mr. Shen Xinghua, Managing Director of CHANGAN Auto Southeast Asia Co., Ltd., the manufacturer of CHANGAN electric vehicles, revealed that CHANGAN Thailand has completed its first year. The company started with the registration and launch of the CHANGAN brand in Southeast Asia, and market activities with the DEEPAL brand in the S07 and L07 models. This has been highly successful in creating a premium brand image in the Thai market, despite the economic downturn affecting the automotive industry.

In its first year, CHANGAN achieved over 8,000 units sold, with nearly 6,000 units delivered, and almost 5,000 of these being DEEPAL S07. This achievement has placed CHANGAN in the top 10 of the SUV market, with a market share of 2.6%, and second place in the C-SUV segment with a 21% market share. Additionally, it holds the number one position in the passenger car segment within the price range of 1.3 to 1.5 million baht. The company has also contributed nearly 1.2 billion baht in taxes to Thailand.

Currently, CHANGAN has expanded its showrooms nationwide to over 60 locations, with 30 already operational, covering 25 key provinces. By 2025, the company aims to expand its showrooms to 100 locations. CHANGAN is committed to high-quality customer service with the development of “Project NO.1” to strengthen customer relationships and enhance satisfaction.

Moreover, CHANGAN Thailand has developed a spare parts warehouse of over 3,000 square meters, storing over 2,000 types of parts and more than 40,000 items, enabling the delivery of parts to over 95% of the country within 24 hours. Additionally, a new digital call center system was launched on August 1st, enhancing convenience and service quality for customers nationwide.

Regarding the construction of the plant in Rayong, which will be CHANGAN global manufacturing base for right-hand drive vehicles, with an investment of over 10 billion baht, the construction is more than 80% completed and is scheduled to commence production in the first quarter of 2025. CHANGAN has connected over 300 local suppliers and plans to achieve the localization rate in domestically produced models to 50% by early next year. Locally, nearly 300 employees have been hired in Bangkok and Rayong, accounting for 70% of its total staffs, with plans to send approximately 100 skilled employees for training in Chongqing in September. Mr. Shen Xinghua stated and further added.

The global automotive market is expected to see sales rise to 90 million vehicles in 2024, with new energy vehicle (NEV) sales reaching 17 million units, indicating rapid growth in the NEV market. China continues to lead this trend, with NEV sales in China expected to reach 11.5 million units in 2024. The Thai EV market is also expected to grow rapidly and steadily, supported by government policies and new energy customer demand. The BEV market in Thailand in the first half of 2024 exceed 15% in the passenger car segment despite economic downturn.

Additionally, CHANGAN THAILAND plans to launch the AVATR brand in September, and at the upcoming Motor Expo in November, will introduce the DEEPAL E07. The company also plans to unveil domestically produced models from the Rayong plant in the first quarter of 2025, including BEV and REEV models, featuring DEEPAL Super REEV technology with a driving range of up to 1,000 kilometers on a full charge battery and full tank oil.

Mr. Shen Xinghua further stated that China remains the global leader in NEV, with new car sales expected to reach 31 million units in China by 2024, an increase of 3% year-over-year. NEV sales are expected to reach 37% to 11.5 million sales. By 2030 the structure of passenger vehicle energy in China projected to be 40% EV, 40% XEV (including PHEV and REEV), and 20% internal combustion engine and HEV, highlighting China’s leading role in global NEV development.

At the same time, the Thai government is implementing the 30@30 policy, aligning with China’s automotive industry trends. Despite economic downturns, stricter bank loan approvals, and reduced vehicle demand in Thailand, the BEV market penetration rate exceeds 15% in the passenger car segment. Therefore, with government policy support and driven by new energy customers, the Thai EV market is expected to grow rapidly and steadily, ensuring the success of the 30@30 policy.

“As a company committed to long-term development in Thailand, we adhere to the principle of ‘By Thai, For Thai, Rooted in Thailand’ by providing excellent products and services to Thai people and fulfilling our social responsibilities. Our CSR initiatives will focus on sustainability, education, and supporting local communities. We believe that giving back to the community is not just a responsibility but a privilege to build a brighter and stronger future for everyone,” Mr. Shen Xinghua concluded.
