Audi announces limited edition R8 V10 plus Coupe

Audi has announced a new limited edition of its R8 V10 Coupe.

Audi will produce just 44 units of the special Audi Sport Performance Parts package R8 for the global market.

The limited edition model is based on the R8 V10 plus, which means motivation is provided by a naturally aspirated V10 developing 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. Although the R8’s drivetrain carries over unchanged, the Audi Sport Performance Parts package does add a lot of other go-fast bits.

Included in the option package is a new aero kit made from carbon fiber. The most obvious change from the standard R8 is a large rear wing and pronounced rear diffusor. Audi says the new aero kit can double the available downforce, making the Audi Sport Performance Parts package car much quicker through higher-speed corners.

The Audi Sport Performance Parts package R8 also includes lightweight 20-inch wheels that save 8kg of unsprung weight. Audi even went to the trouble of switching to titanium backing plates on the R8’s carbon ceramic brakes to save weight.

The interior of the Audi Sport Performance Parts package R8 comes well equipped with bucket seats in perforated Fine Nappa leather, MMI Navigation, Audi connect online services and the fully digital Audi Virtual Cockpit.

Audi hasn’t announced how many units of the limited edition R8 will be heading to the U.S., but the company will be sending just five examples to the UK. Pricing for those five will start from ?176,560, which converts to $234,250.
