GM reveals electric bicycles, asks public to help name it

The company has presented two designs, one folding and one compact.

General Motors is getting into the electric bicycle market, showing a pair of new designs and inviting the public to participate in the branding process.

The automaker has released pictures of two eBikes. One folds into an easily transported size, while the other is not collapsible but generally compact.

The company says the bikes are one element in its push to expand beyond traditional car ownership.

“We blended electrification engineering know-how, design talents and automotive-grade testing with great minds from the bike industry to create our eBikes,” says GM urban mobility director Hannah Parish.

A website has been set up to accept submissions for a potential brand name for the eBike division. The winner will get $10,000 while nine runners-up will each get $1,000.
